GB Live Chat - Next Month

I took into account everyone's votes, including one person on Twitter who couldn't vote here.

Basically, a lot of people want to see me play The Oregon Trail. Sadly, I will not be naming my characters after Fire Emblem characters. :P

Though I will be playing Oregon Trail on Friday, and I've plotted out my month as well. For the rest of the month:

July 8: The Oregon Trail (Apple IIe or DOS. Likely DOS, because DosBOX is better on my system)
July 15th: Princess Maker 2 (DOS)
July 22nd: Hidden Agenda (DOS)
July 29th: Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (Super Famicom)

There's two games that people who see this might not be familiar with. Princess Maker 2 is a stat simulation game where you literally have to raise God's daughter, from the age of 10 to 18. It's surprisingly deep. The controversy regarding this game is that some people think it's pornographic, but that's not the case. The touchy areas are that the main character is naked in a few scenes (and I'll be playing the English beta that was never released, so I don't even think that's an issue anymore), and if you lose to some bandits, it's implied that your character is raped. If Princess Maker 2 is pornographic, then so is Fushigi Yuugi, because everything I just mentioned (nudity and rape) are featured in that.

Hidden Agenda is a game where you take over a fictional Central American country after the ouster of a dictator, and try to bring it back. What's interesting about this game is that it features three political parties that you have to deal with (basically, they break down to Capitalists, Socialists, and Moderates), as well as the foreign influence of the Soviet Union and Cuba (who are unreliable allies) and the United States (who are EXTREMELY PROBLEMATIC if you piss them off. Like, constant, neverending CIA pressure if you even look towards Communist policy). The game was made in the late 80s, and other than some issues (there's actually a bug that renders the game unplayable), it's an outstanding game, and will make for good material.

These will be exciting, especially since these four games play well when doing my style of "chat" (read: I play, readers read). I can get by largely on screenshots, and don't need to stream the game for maximum effect like I would an action game. Fire Emblem in particular will be nice to play like this. Especially Thracia, which is a cocksucker of a game.

As usual, Live Chats start at 2130 EST/1830 PST, unless something causes them to be moved for either business reasons or personal ones (like "Bus had too much to drink and needed to call his mother for a ride home"). When you guys come out for them, they're lively affairs, so hopefully, you all continue to come out! You make them a blast.

Do you know what the latest English patch is for Thracia? Has any movement been made since Cammy dropped her project?

There's a somewhat complete Thracia patch around, yes. As far as I know, it only has game-breaking bugs towards the end, despite a few glitches here and there.

I haven't tested it personally, but it seems to be rather widely used.

Ooo, this is a menu I can sink my teeth into, particularly seeing as to how I have the opening shift tomorrow and will genuinely be able to show up. (Will do my best to avoid getting sucked into Persona 4.)

I just pictured Bus playing P4 in a live chat.

"And that's all for today! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get past the intro, but..."

I learned that lesson with Suikoden V: Don't bother with modern JRPGs. I didn't even make it to Stormfist (very, very early in a game that doesn't pick up for about six or seven hours)

This statement is accurate and correct. *stamps*
