The good news: Connecticut Democrats finally woke up and realised that Joe Lieberman is a piece of garbage - I can't even call him a Democrat, really - as Ned Lamont - who I'm not totally sold on - beat him in the Democratic primary, 52-48.

The bad news: Lieberman's going to run as an independant. Instead of supporting the party's candidate, he's running against him like the dirty whore he is. That's going to split the democratic vote.

Connecticut's Republicans are licking their chops.

So you're against Lieberman for working bipartisan, but you don't want to rip Lamont for being a lifelong Republican who won on one issue?

I'm no fan of Lieberman but it makes a mockery of the two-party system when a hardline Republican can win the Democratic nomination on one issue. National Republicans are thrilled no matter what, because they're losing Lieberman (a left leader on many social issues) for either a Republican who will vote with the GOP on 100% of things, or Lamont who will vote with the GOP on 95% of things.

I said above that I'm not sold on Lamont. To be honest - and the more I think about it, the more intentional it seems - I don't know jack shit about his platform other than the fact that he's against the Iraqi War, which is a good way to polarize Connecticut's chicken hearts...

I don't believe in either candidate, and couldn't vote in the primary anymore if I wanted to, as I've changed over to the Libertarian party. But I'm stringently anti-Lieberman, I can say that.

It makes me appreciate Dodd more everyday.

No more Lieberman.

And hey, if the Elephants get in, is it REALLY different from Joe being in office?

Not really, no. But this is why the Democrats will never establish another majority in any form of higher government. Everyone's stealing votes from each other, while the Republicans are all united under one flag of God, Apple Pie and Hating Fags.

If he loses, it just gives him a reason to make a run for President. :/

Lieberman seems to have gone the way of Benedict Arnold. In spite of what Lamont might do, this is a clear indication that voters are fed up with the war and the abuses of government associated therewith. ... It's still early, but more surprises can be expected.
