For anyone wondering where the fuck my reviews are... well, let's just say I'm better at writing stuff like this than I am at playing a game non-stop for a few days and then writing a shitload about it.

Don't get me wrong; I like writing reviews, I just don't like writing them for newer games. The reason I basically said "fuck it" to Okami was because by the time I could actually play it enough to review it, the game had been out for a few weeks already; hence, me stating that the game was past it's "freshness date", as I don't know many people that want to read a NATE review of a game a month old. I'm MUCH more comfortable in my own genres, that being industry issues, rants about said issues, and sports games. I realise that isn't what companies like NIS want to hear - and believe me, even if it's a casino game, if I'm getting something in the mail, I'm not stupid enough to not review the damn thing - but that's just where my strength lies, and when I deviate from my strengths, I tend to not be a very good writer.

(BTW, the long and short of Okami: good game, Zelda with personality, too easy)

Alex, make sure you give a good read to the article (the one I put into que); I made what could be construed as a dig at P.K., you might want to wipe it. Then again, you might not want an article that says "boycott the PS3" up when Bebito's on a kick to try and make people like us again... XD I edited the one in the que, as I feel that the specific "dig" - that PK has nothing to his credit other than tenure - is a little unnecessary, and I can't make a topic in the forums stating "discuss, even if you dissent!", while crapping on a dissenter. Still, you might feel the need to have me tone this one down.

Next, I'm planning on hopefully knocking out Football Manager 07 quickly, so I can work on a Castlevania series, going up to the release of PoR; that one might get top priority, since I don't want to get bit in the ass by another time-sensitive piece. I'm hoping to bring in guest commentators for that one... gunlord, samuraiter, that's your cue. ;)

Here's what I'm thinking:

I want to break it up into sections like so:

Part 1: MSX/NES Era
Part 2: Game Boy (pre-GBA)
Part 3: 16 Bit Era
Part 4: The Ultimates (Dracula X + SOTN)
Part 5: Game Boy Advance
Part 6: Dawn of Souls + The Future

Ideally, this would lead up to the actual review of the game once it came out on December 5.

Now here's the fun: naturally, I'll be writing my views in each of these, as I've played all of them, and after all, it's my name on the article. However, you and Samu ideally would be only two commentators on whatever sections you guys pick.

That's where your friends come in.

I'd like some prominent members of the CV community to chime in for the other four sections. That actually helps us get some "inside" people with their views, and it helps them get some attention to their site/sites (I'd like to split the commentary between CV sites). Ideally, I'd have Samu commenting on the 16 bit era, you commenting on the Ultimates, and have anyone else you recommend taking up the rest of the sections, but those can change.

This is all pending alexlucard's approval, but I don't see him saying no to that.

Hmm...that sounds cool. If you'd like me to round up a few friends of mine, I suppose I could give Jorge D. Fuentes of CV remix fame and Diplo of Chapel of Resonance fame a call. There are quite a few others as well; although Moonchilde's site isn't very big or well-known (or even complete), he's quite knowledgeable about the CV series. ^_^

Two things:

1.) Yay Castlevania.

2.) You might want to go in and edit your front-page entry for the article you just posted... the word "fuck" is presently on the main page, and if Eric S. won't do that on principle, someone's bound to flip out about it.

Guess who.

Wait. Hold up.

We allow the word "fuck" in our articles, but not on the front page? I mean, in my last "rant" (Battlefield), I could understand it being edited out of our title (though I think they really fucked it up, by making it that "NAUGHTY WORD" shit; is that a word filter, or is that Widro being a moron?), but out of a main article? I actually edited my title for this one, instead of saying "Sony Fucks Consumers", I used screw. Yippie. I can't believe someone would actually go through the effort of botching my article over one word that you have to CTRL-F to find.

Furthermore, saying "fuck" isn't OK... but logging into IP, I just had two popups get around my Firefox popup blocker (fully updated Firefox 2.0). I'm not going to use a plugin just to view a site where the only good articles are in games, some sports, or Gloomchen's. Someone needs to make up their mind; PK or Widro want to censor my dastardly swearing? They can get rid of those cookies, popups and the fact that the site doesn't load until the zillion banner ads are done.

If Alex wants to censor the word he can, but out of principle, I'm saying "fuck it".

Dude, I don't know what to tell you. People don't curse on the front page, I imagine, because some of the columnists don't cater to a profanity-oriented audience, and some readers might (though it's unlikely) take offense to that.

It's a matter of perception, I think.

You want a Bloodlines (Sega Genesis) retroview, I'm there. I'd love to have an excuse to beat the crap out of that game again. ... Also, I don't think I have anything new to really review, so it'll give me something to do for IP.

I'm not really looking for "Retroviews" per se; I don't want everyone to feel like they have to score the games (and if we have to, that's my job anyway). Just a few paragraphs as to what the game meant, etc.

BTW, with Bloodlines comes writing about Super Castlevania and the shitty version of Dracula X. I can help you with the latter.
