I should have listened...

Three red lights.

I haven't even started the system yet. It's already three-lighting.

Haven't gotten the fucking door open! Three lights.

Everything Microsoft forums are saying is "internal problem, send it in, wait three months, thanks for your money".

Unacceptable. THREE RED LIGHTS. I HAVE NOT OPENED THE FUCKING DOOR YET TO EVEN PLAY A GAME!

EDIT: Turned out to be a power issue. I changed plugs, and it's good now.

I haven't had any issues with mine, but it sadly seems to be a constant problem. I'm sorry to hear it happened to yours. :/

Perhaps it's the geek in me though, but I originally read that as "Three lights" and I wanted to respond "THERE ARE THREE LIGHTS! THREE LIGHTS!"

WAIT

You just bought it? TAKE THE FUCKER BACK TO GAMESTOP OR WHEREVER YOU GOT IT. IT'S DEFECTIVE.

Make them replace that shit. DON'T send it to Microsoft until you can't return it to the store.

I got the $60 warrantee specifically because Microsoft's support is absolutely pathetic.

Our original one was acting up when we played Oblivion. It would suddenly go DISC DIRTY, CLEAN DISC NOW. We took it back and got a replacement, which did the same thing. Little did I know until after that replacement that it wasn't actually the system but the game that is extremely glitchy. I've had a few friends since then tell me Oblivon does that shit, just in case your net one works flawlessly and you've been thinking of getting it.

(enter too fast)

So yeah, first thing in the AM, I'm going right back to Milford. This fucker's going back.

I'll give it one more shot. If this doesn't work, someone's refunding me $600.

... Well!

I noticed something: when I started the XBox, the power supply stayed orange (that being the big brick that comes with it for power; that thing could kill large wildlife). Changed plugs on the surge protector, and it works now.

I'll be investing in a better surge protector soon.

At least it's working!

... Might definitely be a good time to get a new protector though.

IMO, get one of those industrial surge protectors, 'Bus, the kind they use for shop vacs and the like. They're big, they're bulky, but damned if they don't work. (That's the kind I use for The Cabinet.) Usually only $20, too.

Honestly, I think they're big problem here is that they used the three red lights to symbolize far too many different problems. But then again, maybe that's just me.

I remember when we were going to take back the NES when we first got it. Turns out the problem was that you had to turn on the power AFTER you put the catridge in. (Don't ask me why I had the sudden urge to share that.)

I've not had a problem with Microsoft support, really. They shipped me a free box and sent me a replacement unit with no problems, and the 3 red lights issue now offers a 3 year warranty, so it's fine to me.

Just keep it well ventilated and you'll be fine.

I'd recommend games but I don't think I've played anything you'd like (except Dead Rising; everyone should love that).

I'm planning to get a 360 early next year (mostly for Ace Combat 6 :P) for two reasons:

1)I'm currently saving to pimp out my PC for DX10

2)I'm waiting for price drops (from saudi vendors, they don't care about international prices)

3)For Microsoft to clean up their act. I've known far too many people who've had two 360s break down on them.
