Though I hate staying home from work, I kinda had to today. PROTIP: Do not try to drive if you see two roads because of the migraine you have. I got onto Route 34 and realized if I kept trying to drive that I wasn't going to make it to Derby, much less work. Put that in perspective: from where I turn onto 34, Derby is literally 1/5 of a mile away, and from my house, I could throw a baseball into Derby with room to spare, as it's 70 feet away.

At least I can get my article edited (Thanks for the tips, Josh!) and onto the site today, once I figure out just what my login is and if I even have one yet. This is where Lucard calls me names and curses and reminds me that I should have had this done if I'd edited my old articles a month ago. Oh well.

At least last night, I had a good trip to Gamestop. Not just good in a "I bought shit" sense, but good in a gamer sense as well. See, most people, if they need to go somewhere and talk about shit with acquaintances, they go to a local bar, or to a softball game. Me? I go to Gamestop while Angel is working. I shot the shit with Angel and Mike for a good 90 minutes, and it was really fun. People wonder why I still deal with Gamestop, but it's not that I deal with Gamestop, it's that I deal with this one store with these people, fuck the others.

And it's fun to legitimately scare someone out of trading in Suikoden V. XD "What are you thinking!?"

So while my list of games will be of little interest to those that do not sleep with me, it's still a great haul.

- Major League Baseball 2K8 (360) GET! This was the one I pre-ordered on Terrance's account a couple weeks ago. I very, very VERY briefly tried it last night (not even a half inning), and it's going to take some... time to get used to. Pitching and throwing are very, VERY different now, and it's going to take an incubation period for me to get used to the way this game plays now. I'm not sure how it adds up so far, but reviews to it are significantly cooler than they are to...

- MLB '08: The Show (PS2) GET! I saw enough positive reviews on this that accentuated that Sony put some legitimate effort into this and that the game is improved over last year's game (easily the baseball game of the year, and would have been a contender for Sports GOTY in a world where NHL '08 didn't exist), so I decided to drop the $40 on it. I thought about the PSP version, but considered the PSP's bad battery life and some gameplay issues. In short, if one game is significantly worse than the other, I've got trade-in bait.

At this point, I asked Angel to pick a game for me: Endless Ocean vs. Patapon. He looked at me like I had something wrong, like it shouldn't have been a debate, and though I don't think the gap between them is THAT big (I'm considering Endless Ocean basically because of Alex's review, and Aileen would love it), I decided to go with...

- Patapon (PSP) GET! So far, the only one I know that doesn't like this is Jerry Holkins at Penny Arcade. But I don't mind rhythm games like this, so I was cool with this one going in.

At this point, I shopped for Aileen. One game is not a surprise, but the other one is.

- Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (NDS) GET! If Capcom keeps pumping them out, Aileen will keep beating them, and if she keeps beating them, I'll keep getting them.

Finally...

- Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GCN) GET! Yes, I own it, but now Aileen does too, so she doesn't have to stay behind me... and I can keep my copy at all times. :D Though in reality, despite the garish yellow "THIS IS A USED GAME FROM GAMESTOP SO WE HAVE TO BRAND IT LIKE CATTLE" stickers on the box art itself (I have to somehow get rid of that), I really bought this game for the box; I got my own copy at Hollywood Video, so I don't have the original box, and since Fire Emblem games get a higher place on my game shrine than any other series - on par with Mario and Zelda - it's good to have the box, and this means that I now have boxes for all four American games. Maybe someday, I can start collecting the Japanese games; since I don't need the cartridges themselves (been playing ROMs for years, no reason to stop now, with translations available), I can keep them intact, at that. Not bad for $20.

Now, onto political matters...

I'm dissappointed that Texas and Ohio (can we disband Ohio at this point? Replace it with Puerto Rico, we won't even have to change the flag) have handed Clinton their delegates. Personally, I wanted last night to be the knock-out punch... even if I'm likely not voting for Obama.

At this point, I've more or less decided to vote for McCain. He's just on the right side of moderate, and I agree with him on more issues than anyone still in the field. In addition to that, I'm sorry, but Obama has a very bad habit of talking about things like "Hope" and "Change" without qualifying those statements. To put it bluntly, if I ask someone like Obama what two plus two is, I do not want to hear about how Mathematics have brought us untold advances over the years and if we could get behind the ideal of change with mathematics as the vanguard to the movement that we as a country can improve and reach true Nirvana, without mentioning somewhere in that drivel that the fucking answer is four. Though I'm on record as getting behind him in '06, with a little more foresight, I cannot place that much faith in what is essentially a good speech. And I don't want to hear about how he's the next JFK; if he's the next JFK, then what's going to be his Bay of Pigs, and his Cuban Missile Crisis, who's going to be his Marilyn Monroe, and more importantly, who's going to be his LBJ when some fanatical nutjob who's birth certificate says "Bubba" decides that he cannot stand the fact some darkie is the President?

However, my vote isn't solidified yet. Basically, here's how this can turn out, and it all depends on who the VP candidate is for McCain:

- If he picks someone like Fred Thompson or Condi Rice, not only am I voting for him but I'm considering joining their campaign team as well. I'd stump incredibly hard for an election candidate for the first time in my entire life.

- If he picks someone other than the people I'm about to mention individually, he's virtually got my vote wrapped unless it's someone WAY out of left field.

- If he picks Rudy Guiliani, I'm taking a look at things, but likely still pulling red in November, as I think Guiliani is a snake oil salesman. People forget that even New York hated him on September 10th of 2001.

- If he picks Michael Huckabee, there's a 99% chance I'm running screaming, and voting for Obama. I'll write in a vote if I have to.

- If Obama wins, I'll look a little more into his campaign if he picks either Joe Biden or Bill Richardson to be his VP. Those are the two Democrats I had no problem getting behind if it came to that (remember people, I'm third party!)

- All that said, if Clinton wins because of Superdelegates (as in, she lost the delegate vote and lost the popular vote), it will be patently obvious that she greased palms, and I don't care if McCain's running mate
is fucking Beelzebub; you'll see me with "McCain/Beelzebub '08!" bumper stickers on my car.
