Fuck you, EA. Just... fuck you.

Unlockable items in Tiger Woods is nothing new. In every version, you can buy everything from pants to shirts to clubs to everything else. That in itself isn't problematic, as you use in-game money to do this.

Well, this year, they added goofy suits that sell for $5m in-game that max your stats; there's a bunny suit, a space suit, and a "Vegas" (Elvis) suit. These max your stats as high as they can go.

That in itself would be fine; they're nearly impossible to unlock, and make you look stupid.

But there's two problems:

1) They're bringable into online mode, which makes online mode fairly cheap, especially with no way to turn that shit off... which is made worse by the fact that...

2) You can purchase them with MS Points.

Let me make this abundantly clear: an hour and a half after I started Tiger Woods 09, I was able to purchase - with real world ($3.75USD) money - an item that saves me literally hours of honestly improving my game. I could go online and become better than all of my opponents (though not too much better than Tiger, to be fair) within MINUTES. I tried this! It works!

For anyone that wants to play online, this turns a personal choice into something mandatory. This is no better than using a Gamehark, but all EA and their cronies at Microsoft did was write Action Replay and Codebreaker out of the business.

Shameful. Absolutely shameful. I'm going to KILL this part of the game in my review, which sucks because the rest of the game is good. THIS is what everyone was worried about when the horse armour thing came up.

What pisses me off is that it's forced exclusivity. There's no cheat devices for either the 360 or PS3, and honestly, with the focus on online gaming, that's not a bad thing! It's one thing to use a Gameshark to make my boxer in Fight Night stronger, it's another thing to take that boxer online.

But now, EA's doing JUST THAT, charging real money for it, AND keeping the lockout. Add in the realistic monopoly they have on every single sport save basketball and hockey, and you have major, MAJOR issues.

The sad thing is, how can I react? Well, for one, it's going to kill my scoring of the game (Miscellaneous is DEFINITELY a 1, and anywhere else I judge online mode is going to take a hit), but considering this is another game they promised us that they didn't send us, 1) since the game is out, no one cares about my review, and 2) they'll just write us out completely.

To be fair, no I think this was what you were worried about. What everyone else was worried about was that they'd have to pay extra to download patches and upgrades just to make their game playable.

Either is despicable, and a pity since there's so much DLC could rise to. :(
