Writer's Block: The Internet

Happy birthday, Internet! The Internet, of course, has changed many things for the good. But is it all good? What is the biggest problem the Internet has created for you or the world?
What's bothered me is that the online behaviour of people - where they have a cloak of anonymity - has become almost acceptable socially, and as it permeates more into how younger people act, it's going to become more acceptable throughout society as a whole. I've seen it in the way people treat each other - have a beef with a woman, put some pictures of her online! - and I've also seen it in the way people write and talk to each other. I'm the type of person that does whatever he can to have perfect punctuation and grammar in TEXT messages (and I use a standard RAZR phone, so I'm exclusively on a keypad; no folding keyboards on my phone), so it appals me to see people typing in more formal environments the way they type in AIM, simply because it's what they know. What, is it that hard to fucking type? It gets easier with practise, trust me.

It's not really the internet's fault, but society as a whole is degrading to the point where we're over-liberalizing, and accepting too many stupid changes just because "it's what those kooky kids do".

If you'll forgive me misquoting Hunter S. Thompson and applying it to Internet trolls: "He was a freak of nature, one of those Darwinian prototypes that just didn't work out." There will always be mass stupidity, since the majority does not evolve, but, in time, it will be contained and controlled, as it has been in other venues. That is my opinion.

I wouldn't call it overliberalizing so much as enabling laziness.

As for internet trolls, samu, I seriously doubt they'll go anywhere unless the internet changes in fundamental ways that would, in all likelihood, be for the worse, not the better.
