In advance of holiday excesses, let's review cures for the common hangover. Coffee, cheeseburgers, raw eggs, lemons and worcestershire sauce—what works? What doesn't?
Not drinking works~ ^__^

Don't they frown on drunkenness (like any normal person probably should)?

Alcohol is lumped with drugs in criminal prosecution. 8D

You know, I really wouldn't have a problem with that; it's something I've never touched, and could easily live without.

Says who? The community decides it's own morality. It's not our job to.

Even if I do think Arabian culture is mostly fucked.

Don't you think punishing people for killing others, and then killing others as punishment is hypocritical?

Like I said: what Saudi Arabia does is their business. Even if I think the way they do it is pants.

My view is this: someone killed (or raped; I think sexual assault should be liable for the death penalty) someone else, in cold blood or whatever. That person is a danger to do it again. What do we do: lock them up at great cost to the taxpayer? Or do we eliminate the threat to greater society?

But I don't think it should be a judge's choice: let it be the choice of the family of the deceased/victimized. Give them the choice: "We can lock them up, or we can execute them... but you will be responsible for pulling the trigger, or flipping the switch". I think a lot of people would think twice. Give them their right to vengeance and see if they take it. I'd be willing to bet that the knowledge that they are going to violently (no lethal injections) kill another person, they'd become forgiving really quick.

Personally? I'd take the Carlin approach: allow it, but REQUIRE attendance. Then have the guy put into a room with a few of the more aggressive prison guards, and then have the guards beat the guy to death. Just brutally kick the shit out of him, crack his skull open, watch the blood splatter on the HDTV cameras in the padded room.

I'll betcha the opinions on capital punishment change then. Mine? Nope; I think it works. But most people would chicken out FAST.

Durr, Rape is liable for death penalty in Islam (not automatic death penalty but it's on the table, two saudi naval officers were executed for raping an indian women in Saudi Arabia for example :E)

Personally? I'd take the Carlin approach: allow it, but REQUIRE attendance.

The victim's kin are required to attend the decapitation (It has to be done by a professional so no one botches that shit up)

They can forgive the accused at any time either for blood money or for free (which leads to a lot of soap operas where the guys is forgiven right before he's executed, Lame. :E)
