Being someone who supports both an American team (Rangers) and a Canadian team (Canucks) gets interesting at times. It sure as FUCK got interesting in 1994, when I saw my two teams duel each other for the Cup, in a series I liken to knowing that you're going to be a multi-millionaire, but only because the money's going to the winner of a swordfight to the death between your two loving and doting parents.

This is one of those times, as Mats Sundin is rumoured to be choosing, by the end of the week, finally, hopefully, whether he will go to the Rangers or the Canucks.

This is fun! It's like a game show! Just like a gameshow, there's made-up drama, enough airheads around to inflate a hot air balloon, and a host (in this case, every fan in the NHL) reminding the contestent (Mats) that there's a time limit, and subtly noting to hurry the fuck up and make a choice.

Here's how this works: if Mats goes to the Rangers, they'll have to move a body to accommodate him because he's almost surely not going to take the $2.5m the Rangers can afford to offer him (and dick over their flexibility in case of an injury), vice the $6m that the Canucks can offer him according to the Globe and Mail. Either way, you know what? I don't give a shit, because both teams seem to think they're getting the Mats Sundin of 2001, which would be great if it was 2001; if that's the case, Owen Nolan and Eric Lindros are available, too. If he goes to the Rangers, he becomes their third line centre. Whoop de do, I'm sure he'll love passing to Lauri Korpikoski and Ryan Callahan (though I like Callahan). If he goes to Vancouver, the only thing he does is relegate Kessler to third line status, which is not where I'd like to see him playing; he's been doing great as a shut-down centre. I don't think he "fits" with either team, even though neither team really scores that much; Vancouver doesn't count, because it doesn't matter if the games you win are by 6-1 scores. It's either 6-1 or a 1-0 shootout loss with Vancouver, and that's a lot less likely to fall into their favour with Corey Schneider and Curtis Sanford in net for the foreseeable future.

Whereever he goes, I don't give a shit. As long as he doesn't fuck the team up.

I just want him to fucking GO SOMEWHERE already so I don't have to hear about him all the damn time in the papers and sports news here.

Personally, I'm just glad I don't have to read about CC Sabathia and Plaxico Fucking Burress anymore.
