People always either offer me drinks, or joke about drinking. When I mentioned that I was likely going to have to take some time this weekend to get measured for my tuxedo for Mike's wedding in May, the guy I was speaking to (a vendor we work with) asked me "is it an open bar?". I told him I don't drink, and he was almost flustered. "Wow! Really!? That's... wow, that's amazing!"
Is this really so surprising? Honestly? People are almost always disproportionately surprised that I decided on my own not to drink alcohol... which leads to step two of this, scepticism, when people ask me "did you have problems or something?". I like how they euphemise that; they're basically asking me "so, you go to AA?", and they're naturally shocked to learn that, well, no, I'm not a recovering alcoholic, but I just don't want to drink alcohol; I'd rather not end up in a situation where my wits are sacrificed.
I think it's a bit sad that, societally, I'm regarded as some sort of freak because I don't drink alcohol, as if I had a horsecock that had another, smaller cock of it's own.

Next guy that does this to me, I want to take pictures of him when he's shitfaced, show them to him, and then go "this is why I don't drink". Because that's one of the main reasons: I rely on my wits and intelligence, and alcohol destroys both.
(That, and my entire mother's side of the family is LOADED with alcoholics, including my uncle. So no, that's not something I need)
I'm pretty sure someone did.
Oh, society, how you've dumbfounded us yet again. ¬_¬
