More good news for Vyc and especially Fox!

So recently, Vermont decided to legislate gay marriage.

Yesterday, their governor vetoed it on personal convictions, but fully expecting it to be overturned... and not doing much to stop that.

Today, the Vermont Senate overturned the Veto, making it official, and making Vermont the first state to allow homosexual marriages through legislation instead of the courts. No Prop 8, in other words!

I don't know about the rest of you fuckers, but up here in New England, we have this weird thing called respect of other peoples' rights.

Now, it's up to them to prove everyone in California, Florida and the Bible Belt wrong, as well as places like the National Organization for Marriage, who disgust me - a straight man who's all but engaged - so much that they literally make my skin crawl. Don't fuck this up.

Proposition 8 has not been overturned in my fair state of California? :T

I'm not sure what would be involved in that, but overturning laws is not something done lightly; the judges who strike it down are basically doing the democratic process harm.

But Proposition 8 itself wasn't a legal method of getting the law in place against the California legislature, according to some. Plus, wasn't there a Supreme Court case upholding Gay Marriage? I'll have to look into it, I guess.

National Organization of Marriage. ... NOM. Nomnomnom.

In any case, this is a good thing. Howard Dean brought civil unions to Vermont, but I'm encouraged to see that folks weren't satisfied with just that. Now, if one state can do it, let's see if we can get into a long game of dominoes with the others.

There won't be any of that business in Vermont.

*incredibly late to the party* Oh fuck yeah! People were really worried about there not being enough votes to overturn the veto, so this is fantastic news! \o/!!!
