Hey, looking for a little help and I figure you would be the one that can do it.

So there's a decent chance that the second round series will be between the Devils (nominally my team; although I used to be a really big hockey fan when I was younger, I haven't really followed since the Cup win in 03) and the Capitals (hometown team of the city I live in; a lot of my friends and coworkers are Caps fans). If the series happens, I would like to be the obnoxious road fan that wears Devils gear out on the town, needles my friends and starts arguments with strangers about hockey. All I really know is Brodeur missed a lot of time this season, Ovechkin is the best scorer in the league and the Caps have a player named after a male bodily fluid. Can you give me some pro-Devils and more importantly some anti-Caps talking points?

Hmmm... Actually, I like the Rangers against the Caps, for the same reasons I would like the Devils against the Caps: Washington doesn't have a great defence, and terrible goaltending. I'd play up the fact that their starting goaltender is Jose Theodore, who hasn't been shit since winning that Vezina in Montreal. Furthermore, Tom Poti plays consistent minutes; he's a Rangers AND Islanders reject. Washington's defence, again, isn't great, but then you also had the amazing Alex Semen fight (I'll embed it), and of course, Mr. Kournikova himself, Sergei Federov (who I believe is serving as their captain, as Chris Clark is injured).

As for positive Devils' talking points? The past two decades - not counting the locked-out '04-'05 season, obviously - the Devils have missed the playoffs ONCE, in '95-'96, which was the season after their first of three Stanley Cups (also won in '00-'01 and '02-'03); the Capitals, on the other hand, have missed the playoffs six times in that span, including the three seasons previous to last year, where they had to make it on the final day with help from Carolina's loss, and their one trip to the Finals, they got swept by the Red Wings ('97-'98), in a series that wasn't even THAT close. That SHOULD be enough talking points; really, if you keep things to the past 20 years, the records speak for themselves, and if someone really wants to bring back the "Mickey Mouse organization" line from Gretzky in '84... they've already lost.

EDIT: Semen fight:
