The Phone Derby is over...

... and the iPhone is the winner!

The guy at the AT+T store was actually the final straw for me. He told me that every Blackberry update seems to have major problems that cause things to break. He let me know that unless I'm doing heavy office editing - which I'm not, I'll write entries in notepad if I have to - that I should stick with the iPhone, unless I'm loading a TON of music. He also let me know that browsing and things like that are much easier on the iPhone; in short, he told me "unless you're a really busy executive, don't bother with the Bold", and I believe him, especially after trying them both out for my entire lunch. The Bold's browser sucked, and simply put, there are more and better applications for the iPhone.

So far, I'm falling in love with two things: the seamless way it integrates with both Google Apps (superbusnet and grandbell email) and Exchange (work email), and THE PANDORA APP. See, I like Pandora, especially now that I've found the perfect ambient music, that being the Neal Schon station (similar artists: Eric Johnson, Steve Vai), and they have a Pandora app for free. That means I can listen to Pandora (if my regular iPod isn't sufficient), without eating up my company's bandwidth and having to hack around Websense. This is *FUCKING AWESOME*. I'm easy to please.

It's not all perfect. The battery sucks. The process for making ringtones seems arduous (that is, not using iTunes purchased music, which is GAY, especially with most music costing $1.29 now). There's no copy and paste. It can't multitask (if I want to leave Pandora and write a text, it shuts off Pandora, for stability reasons, which is understandable, but fuck), and the touch keyboard hates my stubby fingers; I make a lot of mistakes.

But right now? I don't regret the purchase.

And Aileen, yours gets upgraded next week; you can talk with Mom about that, she's the one handling you, Mary and herself. I tried to get it done today, but they were going to charge me $75; not worth it, IMO. You won't be able to do things like use the internet with it - not without overage charges - but we did get the family text package, which means all four of us have unlimited text.

Can the iPhone connect to the internet via a wireless router like the iPod Touch? That thing was a lifesaver when we were stuck up north and the national news was to busy harping on whatever stupid thing Obama/McCain/Palin/Whoever-Our-Vice-President-Is-Now-I-Sometimes-Forget-We-Have-One had to say that particular day.

It can't multitask

My phone can multitask, but it tends to do strange things when I do... D:

The iPhone does support WiFi, if that's what you're asking. If you're asking about tethering - that is, acting AS a router for a laptop - then no, though I think Apple's working on something for that.

The DMA said: Can the iPhone connect to the internet via a wireless router...

And before you ask: yes, I do enjoy quoting myself. :D

My bill only went up $30/mo. That's not bad, for infinite data.
