SBNet Users: What the hell?

I've had a lot of traffic to my sites lately, but recently took the fucking cake. There was such a spike in traffic that Dreamhost warned me that there was what they believed to be a DDoS on our account, and had to temporarily (and quickly; my understanding is that this was less than five minutes) take down sites on my account to see what was going on.

It turns out there was a huge spike in traffic on seigane.net - Cammy, that's your site - that made it look like a DDoS. It all seemed to be coming from one American IP that I haven't been able to trace too much yet, according to my logs, but I want to know what's going on before I mandate having to add an .htaccess to that site.

I apologise for any inconvenience to those with SBNet sites, and Cammy, do you have any clue what happened?

Like temp bans?

Good luck, regardless.

Temp bans for suspiciously fast refreshes is a good idea, though what I have right now are things that limit the number of times certain things can happen per minute.
